About Us

Our Philosophy

"To provide the very best professional instruction in technique and performance in a family-oriented atmosphere; to inspire passion for the art of dance, giving every student the opportunity to excel, perform, and progress; and to instill confidence and self esteem in every dancer."
Meet Our Founder

Ann Moody Sill studied dance in the Houston area with Virgie Lee Emmons School of Dance. Ann owned and operated Ann Moody Sill Studio in the Alief area for 31 years before building a new state-of-the-art facility and moving to Sugar Land in 2002. She also continues her dance education by attending workshops, seminars, and master classes.

Ann has had extensive training in all phases of dance: ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, lyrical, character, musical theatre, and production and line work. Ann's choreography and performances may be seen all over the Houston area and she boasts many dancers who have become teachers and performers. Ann's students have taken top honors at area dance competitions, and many students have held top offices in Alief, Fort Bend, and Houston drill teams, cheerleading squads, and dance companies.

Ann retired in the Summer of 2018 and is enjoying life with her husband, Gerry. We will be forever grateful for all Ann has done for AMSDS.

MEET OUR NEW DIRECTOR
Our History

Ann Moody Sill Dance Studio (AMSDS) has been teaching in the Houston area since 1971. Our first studio opened on Boone Road.

In 2002, after serving the Alief community for 31 years, we built our new facility on S. Highway 6 where we still operate today. We have the longest established business, the best facility and the finest staff in the Southwest Houston / Sugar Land area.

Our teachers not only have excellent dance educations and teaching experience, but also continuously learn new material to present to our students.

Dance is not only a wonderful art, which provides entertainment to the audience, but also, and more importantly for young dancers, dance is a source of self-esteem and confidence, which is critical in a child's development.

Therefore, we feel that we offer something unique: we teach students to "love to dance" as well as the finest style and technique, whether they are here to pursue a professional career, or merely to gain grace, poise and coordination.

We welcome any questions, comments, or suggestions, as we are constantly striving to better serve the community and better educate our dancers.
